Milas Olive Oil Receives Geographical Indication Registration in European Union

Milas olive oil has been registered as a geographical indication in the European Union.

Milas olive oil, one of the important values ​​of Turkish cuisine, draws attention all over the world with its quality and taste.

Milas olive oil became Turkey’s 5th geographical indication registered in European Union. Along with Milas olive oil, Antep baklava, Malatya apricot, Aydın fig, and Aydın chestnut are the other Turkish geographical indications registered in European Union.

The fame of Milas olive oil stems from the use of the Memecik variety, which has been grown intensively and at high quality since ancient times, as well as the high quality of the olive grown in the local soil and climate conditions of the region.

Starting her career in IP and being a chartered Trademark Attorney before TurkPatent in 2013, Gamze C. Bakır practiced as Manager of Trademark&Design Department in a Turkish IP firm. Her area of expertise mainly focuses on application, protection and maintenance of Intellectual Property rights, specifically trademarks and designs, both domestically and internationally.

She actively participated in many national and international events, training, and seminars. Since 2015, she has also been an active member at INTA and ECTA meetings. She is fluent in English.

Her area of expertise mainly focuses on application, protection and maintenance of Intellectual Property rights, specifically plant variety protection, trademarks and designs, both domestically and internationally.

She actively participated in many national and international training, and seminars. She is fluent in English.
