The French luxury giant Chanel filed a opposition against Huawei’s trademark applied for hardware in the scope of class 9 before EUIPO. The EUIPO rejected Chanel’s opposition.
However, Chanel did not give up and filed a suitcase before EU Court. The case concluded.
The court judged that in particular, Chanel’s marks have more rounded curves, thicker lines and a horizontal orientation, whereas the orientation of the Huawei mark is vertical. Consequently, the General Court concludes that the marks are not similar.
